August 18th, 2025. Our farm lost our main operations building to fire on the afternoon of Aug. 16th. Everyone is safe. The Miller family thanks the many firefighters and responders who risked their safety to contain the massive three alarm fire.
The packing house building was home to our cold storage and produce coolers, our cider press and apple packing facilities, our retail area, our maple evaporator and sugaring equipment. Many family heirlooms and antiques adorned the walls and were used in daily business. It is all completely gone in a devastating loss. We will share updates as we are able.
Saturday, Sept 6, 2025: The orchard is OPEN for Pick-Your-Own! Hours: 8-6, every day. Cash, check, venmo accepted.
We have absolutely delicious organic McIntosh and Cortland apples for your picking delight and a beautiful orchard to explore. Ready-picked peaches and other goodies available, too. Please follow signs directly to the orchard (across from address 193 Miller Rd). Please note that due to circumstances, we are receiving visitors at the orchard and not at 511 Miller Rd.

Our farmers’ market orgs have organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to help us recover. Checks made out to us directly are also gratefully accepted (Dwight Miller Orchards, 511 Miller Rd, E. Dummerston, VT 05346). Thank you for considering us during this time.
The Miller family has been farming on the same land longer than Vermont has been a state. The beautiful apple orchards, diversified crop fields, and maple sugarbush that make up our farm are located in Dummerston, Vermont. We are proud to carry on family tradition by stewarding this land — now for eight generations. We take pride and satisfaction in producing high-quality organic apples, blueberries, and more.

Read and Malah Miller, along with son Will, grow, harvest, market, and deliver apples and other products to retailers around the Northeast and sell at local farmers’ markets. We welcome the public to our farm for apple picking and more — 15 minutes north of Brattleboro, in lovely southern Vermont.
We make pure Vermont maple syrup and press unpasteurized fresh sweet cider at our cider mill here on the farm. Our famous apple cider is always made with a deliciously balanced blend of heirloom and modern varieties. We make our apple cider vinegar here, too.
Organic apples

When growing fruit we proudly rely on organic methods and materials, which is not a common practice in the Northeast. The climate in this area makes that a very difficult achievement. For transparency, we make at-harvest test results for chemicals on our apples available to the public. Conventional apples are routinely included on the Dirty Dozen roster due to the chemical pesticide residues that are commonly found on non-organic apples.
We also employ a growing practice we call “clean fruit” that combines limited, time-bound conventional methods with organic protocols.

Our farm store is open year-round for crops in season. Pure maple syrup is always available, along with small batch fruit jams and jellies and honey. Our homemade pickles hit the shelves in late August and never last long enough.
We offer ready-picked fruit for sale, and pick-your-own blueberries, peaches, and apples whenever possible. “PYO” is seasonal and dependent on crop conditions, we recommend calling ahead.
